December 12, 2024

Global Entry is now accessible to citizens of several countries, not just the US. This is a great opportunity for frequent travelers to save hours at at immigration when entering the US. Here are some tips to get Global Entry for non-US citizens.

TLDR

Most importantly, make sure you've completed the required clearance with your own country before applying. If you complete it afterward, they might not receive it on time and you will have to reapply (and pay) for Global Entry. For the rest, the process is similar to US citizens and you can follow the steps detailed on the official Global Entry website. Note that foreign citizens don't receive a Global Entry card (except Mexico), but you can still use the Global Entry kiosks at the airport.

No, you won't. The Global Entry card is only for US citizens, permanent residents and Mexican nationals. You rarely need it, since it is already linked with your passport. Make sure to have your boarding pass linked by entering your Known Traveler Number (KTN) when booking your flight. This will allow you to use the TSA PreCheck line at security.

When can I start using Global Entry?

Once you are pre-approved, you can take the interview directly at the airport the next time you travel to the US, after passing immigration. You will still have to go through the regular line that one last time, but after that you can use the Global Entry kiosks.
